An ISM-Based Methodology for Interrelationships of Critical Success Factors for Construction Projects in Ecologically Fragile Regions: Take Korla, China as an Example

Construction activities taken place in ecologically fragile regions (EFRs) of China are facing a series environmental obstacles. Studying critical success factors (CSFs) to arrive at the sustainable objectives for construction project EFRs is needed. Understanding interrelationships these CSFs one vital ways achieve this. This paper identifies and analyzes 18 projects through literature review from multi-perspective case study Korla City China. The causal relationship between each CSF obtained by pairwise comparisons thereafter, an ISM (Interpretative Structural Modeling) method employed hierarchical structuring CSFs. As result, we established five-level ISM. Subsequently, MICMAC (cross-impact matrix multiplication applied classification) approach implemented partition classify into four quadrants (independent, linkage, autonomous, dependent) according their driver dependence powers. Through implementation approach, degrees gained. findings reveal that studied have strong hierarchy interrelationship. manager’s leadership style economic viability root source has highest influence, which supported result analysis. planning strategies more dependent influenced others. on top level ISM: conflict resolution, resources water play significant role arriving success, great potential future study. approaches this can be helpful decision-makers managers comprehending efficiently achieving success.
